The best homemade meat sauce can have beef or Italian sausage, but for my family, beef is the winner. When it comes to comforting and flavor-packed meals, few things can compare to a hearty meat sauce.
This timeless recipe has earned its place as a staple in my kitchen. Whether it’s with Spaghetti, or on a burger bun (sloppy joe) or with tortilla chips. Meat sauce is great for any size family, which is great for any picky eater or big eaters.
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs ground beef (90% lean 10% fat)
- 1 tbsp Avocado oil
- 1/2 onion, diced
- 2 fresh tomatoes
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1/4 of sweet pepper
- Fresh basil
- 7 ounces can tomato sauce
- 2 ounces can tomato paste
- 1 tbsp Paprika
- 2 tbsp cane sugar
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 3/4 tsp garlic powder
- 3/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 oregano
- 1/4 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 cup water
- And Most of All A pinch of Love
Instructions:
- In a large skillet or pot over medium-high heat add 1 tbsp of avocado oil, then add beef, cook meat until it’s no longer pink.
- In the same skillet, add onion diced, fresh tomatoes, garlic clove, minced, sweet pepper, chopped basil, tomato sauce, tomato paste, Paprika, cane sugar, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, chili powder, in addition to that, add water.
- Stir well, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 35-40 minutes.
Guess what! For busy moms who are worried about what their family’s dinner is for the next day, girl I got you. Meat sauce leftovers are great for making sloppy joes (in my kids’ case burgers).
Furthermore, another great dinner idea is tortilla chips with some extra tomatoes, cheese and peppers.
How to store leftovers:
Allow meat sauce to cool, then cover in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
In addition to that, this can be serve as kids’ lunch for school with rice in their best thermos
