Oven-Roasted Chicken

There’s something undeniably comforting and satisfying about the aroma of oven-roasted chicken wafting through the air. As one of the most versatile and beloved dishes, oven-roasted chicken has the power to bring people together and elevate any meal. In this blog post, we’ll explore the art of oven-roasting chicken, from selecting the perfect bird to achieving a golden, crispy skin that locks in succulent flavors.

Selecting the Perfect Chicken:

The journey to a perfect oven-roasted chicken begins with selecting the right bird. Opt for a fresh, high-quality chicken that’s free-range or organic for the best flavor and texture. Ensure that the chicken is plump, with firm, moist skin, and a pleasant pinkish hue. Consider the size based on your needs, keeping in mind that a smaller bird will cook faster.

Preparation and Seasoning:

Before the magic of roasting begins, take the time to prepare and season your chicken. Start by washing chicken in cold lemon water.

Next, pat the chicken dry with paper towels to ensure a crispy skin.

Ingredients:
  • 2 ½ tbsp Avocado oil
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • ½ tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tsp Smoked Paprika
  • 1 ½ tsp Garlic powder
  • 2 tsp Italian Season
mixture of seasoning
Trussing for Even Cooking:

To ensure even cooking and a beautiful presentation, consider trussing your chicken.

Trussing involves tying the chicken with kitchen twine to secure the wings and legs close to the body. This not only helps the chicken cook evenly but also gives it a more uniform shape, contributing to an appealing end result.

The Roasting Process:

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Once the oven is ready, cover the chicken with foil paper bake for the first 30 minutes, then remove foil covering. Next reduce the oven temperature to 380 degrees and let the chicken baked for another 1 hour without the foil cover. This will make your chicken a bit crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside

Roast the chicken until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part of the thigh, typically around 1.5 to 2 hours depending on the size of the chicken.

Basting and Moisture Retention:

To keep the chicken moist and flavorful, baste it with its juices or a flavorful liquid like broth, wine, or melted butter during the roasting process. This step adds an extra layer of richness and helps the skin achieve that desirable golden-brown hue.

Resting and Carving:

Once your oven-roasted chicken has reached perfection, resist the temptation to carve it immediately. Allow the bird to rest for about 10-15 minutes, which allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, resulting in a juicier end product. Use this time to prepare any accompanying sides.
